NGP (PSP 2) Preview

Next Generation Portable, commonly referred to as PSP 2, is an upcoming handheld games console from Sony. It is the successor to PSP.

The device includes a 5 inch OLED touchscreen, two analog sticks plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Inside the device it has a quad-core A9 processor and a quad-core graphics processor. The user interface will be called Livearea, which succeeds the XcrossMediaBar of the old PSP.

Various games have been announced for NGP including: Uncharted Portable, Killzone, Motorstorm, Resistance, Little Big Planet and Call of Duty. Games will be on NVG cards instead of the Universal Media Disc which was used for the old PSP.

NGP will also feature backwards compatibility with Playstation Portable download titles, Playstation Minis, PS One classics plus videos and comics from the Playstation Store. Unlike PSP games, NGP games are to be trophy compatible.

NGP is due for release during the fourth quarter of 2011.
